Connecting Our Future is our apprenticeship programme and a fantastic opportunity for anyone starting out their career in Financial Services.

You may already know where your passion lies and we can help you develop that passion, or you may be open to where your career could go and we can give you the experience you need to decide. You will experience working in 5 different areas of the business while completing a Business Administrator Apprenticeship at level 3. The programmes has been designed to demonstrate how different departments work together to provide a great customer experience.

How will it work?

  • Year 1: Understanding our customers

    Your first year will be split into three placements of four months each where you’ll develop a great understanding of our customers in a variety of different areas, including our Customer Contact Centre, Branch Network, Digital and Operations teams within our Head Office. It’s a brilliant way to understand our customers more and learn how we build long and lasting relationships with them.

  • Year 2: Understanding how we support our customers and your own career aspirations

    You’ll deepen your knowledge with 2 further 6 months placements in other areas of our business. We recognise you’ll have individual career aspirations and we’ll work with you to try and match these to the right business area for you. This could include IT, Marketing, Digital, HR, Risk, Finance, Branch Network, Customer Contact Centre, Audit and Operations.

Each placement will allow you to experience how our teams connect with each other to deliver an outstanding customer experience and gain an understanding of your own strengths to help you make decisions for your future career.

Throughout the programme you’ll receive encouragement and support from your leader and colleagues. We also offer a huge variety of learning opportunities to support you throughout your journey:

  • Your own mentor to help you settle in and support you in your role
  • A structured induction that will help you start your career with Skipton and get to know your fellow apprentices
  • Workplace learning and structured training to help you build skills and experience.
  • Help to build your own network and community through coordinated skills development and society initiatives
  • We’ll talk about your objectives and agree a development plan to make sure you’re receiving all the necessary support
  • We’ll provide regular feedback on your progress to help you continue to learn, reflect and develop

Who can apply?

Applications for September 2017 will open in March 2017 and close on 31st May 2017. Assessment Centres will run during June 2017 with successful applicants starting on 31st August 2017. To apply you will need the following:

  • Predicted or have achieved 80 UCAS points or 2 year’s relevant work experience,
  • Committed to the two year programme,
  • Flexibility in your place of work as most placements will be undertaken at Head Office in Skipton but you will also be expected to work at one of our Branch locations in the local area.
